Punta Sierra wind farm
The Punta Sierra wind farm will be Pacific Hydro’s first wind farm in Chile.
An important step for us towards technology diversification in the country, the project has already been granted environmental approval.
Located in the Coquimbo region, approximately 320km north of Santiago, the project is expected to have 32 wind turbines with an installed capacity of 77 MW.
When operating, the wind farm will feed approximately 255 GWh/year into Chile’s national grid, which is enough clean energy to supply approximately 175,000 Chilean homes. Its operations will avoid the emissions of an estimated 200,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas pollution every year, contributing to the country’s target to reduce emissions.
Pacific Hydro has been monitoring the wind resource in the region since 2008.
