Celebrating Global Wind Day

13 June 2014

Global Wind Day is celebrated around the world on 15 June.

Organised by EWEA (European Wind Energy Association) and the GWEC (Global Wind Energy Council) the day celebrates all things wind. This includes discovering the power of wind energy and the potential it holds to revolutionise the world.

To celebrate the day, hundreds of organisations around the world will host events, information sessions and wind workshops.

The Global Wind Alliance will be holding a family picnic at the Parliament House Lawns on the day.

Last year more than 230 events were organised in 40 countries across the globe.

Currently, there are more than 200,000 operating wind farms in 75 countries that generate clean renewable energy.

Wind day started in Europe in 2007 and diversified into a Global event in 2009.
