Pacific Hydro wins international Reporting Award for Openness & Honesty

3 May 2013

Leading renewable energy company Pacific Hydro was the winner at the CR Reporting Awards 2013 in the “Openness & Honesty” category for its first combined Annual Review and Sustainability Report. The winners were announced during a reception at the Royal Society in London this week.

The CR Reporting Awards recognise the very best in corporate responsibility reporting and are the only independent, global annual awards of their type. Managed by CorporateRegister.com – the CR resources website and provider of the world’s largest online directory of CR (corporate responsibility) Reports, the awards identify and acknowledge the best CR reports and reward quality disclosure as a contribution to the raising of global reporting standards.

The “Openness & Honesty” category recognises reports that provide a balanced picture of the performance of a business. Runner-ups in the category this year include companies such as Marks and Spencer, Export Development Canada, Nike, Banco Bradesco and Coca-Cola.

Pacific Hydro chief executive officer Rob Grant said that his team was thrilled to receive such an accolade, its second win at the CR Reporting Awards.

“Our first combined Annual Review and Sustainability Report has been an important step towards improving the communication of our business and sustainability performance to our stakeholders,” said Mr Grant.

“We started reporting our sustainability performance in 2009 and won ‘Best SME Report’ at the CR Reporting Awards 2011 for that initial effort. Our 2012 combined report incorporates the lessons learned since them and provides a deeper insight into our business as we celebrate 20 years of clean energy.”

The Pacific Hydro Annual Review and Sustainability Report 2012 is based upon the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Reporting Framework, a comprehensive sustainability framework that is widely used around the world.

Privately owned by Industry Funds Management since 2005, which is owned by a large number of Australian superannuation funds, Pacific Hydro has voluntarily published Sustainability Reports for the last three years.

The report can be viewed online and hard copies are available upon request.
